Business Retention and ExpansionThriving and vibrant local economies are critical to a prosperous state economy. The Business Vitality Program partners with local organizations, state agencies and service providers to maximize private sector job creation and investment. The program partners include CTED’s Regional Staff and Economic Development Organizations in every county in Washington. Sixty to eighty percent of all new jobs are created by existing businesses. Local companies are valuable resources that communities cannot afford to ignore or lose. The jobs they generate add employment and create new businesses and tax revenues to boost local economies. The Business Vitality program works with manufacturing and processing firms on retention and local expansion issues. Building on the state’s entrepreneurial spirit CTED staff, in conjunction with local Economic Development Organization's staff and partners, identify threatened or expanding manufacturing companies providing connections and linkages to resources, services and programs including business planning, financing, workforce training and hiring, interdepartmental relations and export assistance.
